Photography assignment “water”

Water, at one time it was my enemy. I feared the water, because I did not know how to swim. I had near death experiences with water earlier in life. Those memories stuck with me. It was a huge fear I faced. It wasn’t until later in life (way later), that my friend taught me how to swim.

My friend could see my deep-rooted fears, and she stuck by me supporting and encouraging me to keep trying.  She was very patient with me. She could see how terrified I was when water would run over my face. I would grasp for air, as if the water was pulling me down trying to suffocate me. I overcame my fears and I can swim now.

I love sitting next to a pond, a stream, a lake, or an ocean and the feeling of calmness it provides to me. Isn’t that crazy? At one point being so fearful of water, but then understanding the calming effect it has on me when I’m not in it.

I have made friends with the water now, I respect the waters and the fears have washed away.

    1. Thank you. So you need to try sky diving…jumping out of a perfectly good airplane! I did that along with climbing 14,000′ mountains have helped deal with my fear of heights. We just need to face them head on! Appreciate your support:)

  1. That photo is so pretty! I used to get so tired swimming and wasn’t very good at it. Finally, as an adult, I learned to relax in the water instead of fighting it, and now I am a much better swimmer and enjoy it so much more.
