Five Items

Today’s Daily Prompt asks:

A classic question, revisited: what are the five items you must have on a deserted island?

Thanks for the prompt suggestion, Sue Perry!

I am thinking about the things I would need to survive. I have no other information about the island. I’m not sure how I got there, the location or how long I am on this island. My hope is that someone knows I am on the island and will be back for me.

So what comes to mind? In order to survive you need the basics, food and water.

I would want a reliable water pump, to prepare my water supply.

A fish net and knife are items that would come in handy for catching and preparing food. Rather than fishing, I would use the net to catch fish. The knife would be an all-around great tool, serving multiple purposes.

A water proof lighter to start fires. The fire could be used to cook food, keep me warm, as well as enjoying the light of the fire in the darkness of the night.

The other most practical item to have would be rope, lots of rope. There are many things you can do with rope. I can cut the rope to tie logs together to make a raft, if I chose to leave the island. I could use it to make a shelter, or I could design my very own deserted island furniture.

I would use my God-given talents and these 5 items to survive on the island. I think my relationship with God would deepen since there would be no other distractions.

I will survive!
