So where do you begin…from exactly where you are. Are you aware of what is going on in your life, or are you letting it happen to you? Begin to raise your awareness with:
- Your body, how does it feel when it moves.
- Your mind, what type of thoughts run through your head every minute.
- Your heart, how easy is it for you to love yourself?
A strong body feels good, it feels solid, you are able to do whatever you want to do. I know a lot of people that exercise every day and feel awesome! I also know a lot of people that want to exercise, but are overwhelmed by the idea of getting started. The best way to get started, is from where you are. It will take some time to build up your strength and endurance, but if you don’t start out with small changes…you won’t start at all.
If you don’t exercise, don’t start working out full guns a blazing. It’s going to hurt or you will hurt yourself. You can start out with simply walking. That’s pretty easy, we all do that every day. Get yourself a pedometer and start walking 10,000 steps a day. This will guarantee weight loss. This was how I started my weight loss journey…walking and walking some more. It was a challenge that I signed myself up to accomplish. If I didn’t walk 10,000 steps by the end of the day, I did whatever I needed to get to that goal. After consistently hitting my 10,000 steps, I raised my goal higher.
The pedometer was the tool I used for raising my awareness, and it paid off in the long run. Walking is the easiest first step anyone can do. Go buy a new pair of walking shoes and get started! Most phones or iPods have pedometers built in.
How many thoughts run through your head in a day? Between 50,000 – 70,000 a day! That’s about 35 – 48 per minute. WOWZA! How many of those thoughts are positive in nature? Good job, You did it, You are amazing, Man I love life, I am so lucky everything goes my way, I am so blessed, I am strong, I am loved…those thoughts run through your mind every minute, yeah…right!
The truth is, I need to work hard on keeping my thoughts positive; I am a pretty optimistic person. Some days it feels like the world is collapsing all around us. We have to strengthen our thought muscle, just like our body muscles to think more positively. I use to have bad self-talks, or thoughts where I was putting myself down all of the time in my mind. One day I had enough negative talk. I started flicking my cheek every time I caught myself thinking a bad thought. At that time, I would replace the bad thought with a good one. There was a lot of flicking going on…let me tell you. But not anymore.
Positive thinking is giving power back to yourself. Positive thinking helps to achieve results. Positive thinking leads to a happier life. Positive thinking helps expand your heart to loving life. Ready to strengthen your thought muscle? Begin to change negative thoughts into positive ones!
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:34. Sometimes it is hard to love others and even ourselves. But we are all perfect creations just as we are. We all have so much to learn from each other, even the people we don’t love. There is good in everything, but our pain is overbearing and our hurt goes so deep that it is hard to comprehend there could be goodness in the midst of the pain.
When I am driving down the road, I send the cars that are coming towards me with a one word blessing. Whatever pops into my mind when the car comes toward me I send them a one word thought of love, peace, strength, joy, wisdom, courage, like I said whatever comes to mind. Sometimes there are a few cars in a row that get the thought of “love” and I smile to myself thinking, they have no clue that I am sending those positive energies to them (or maybe they do?). My hope is that they receive the thought or energy, and it helped them through their day.
Make and take time to be aware of your body, mind and heart. Change your thinking to make positive changes and love yourself for making these small changes. The result can be a huge impact in your life.
- What reasons do you have for not incorporating exercise into your day?
- What steps will you take to eliminate those reasons?
- Watch your thoughts and make note of the negative thoughts.
- Begin to stop those thoughts and replace with positive ones.
- Do you love freely?
- What makes you not love someone?
- Begin to build new muscles in your whole body, mind and heart.
